The rise of generative and “agentic” AI—software that acts on its own—has sparked new warnings about a possible bubble. Still, many believe the technology and its business impact have long-term value. The article presents the situation like this:

Key points:

  • Many businesses using AI are just getting started. They focus on automating workflows, creating customer-service bots, or improving internal processes. The return on investment is slow and hard to measure.

  • One expert pointed out that the rush to adopt AI feels similar to past tech bubbles, like the dot-com era.

  • The article says a total “pop” of the AI bubble is unlikely. However, a market correction—like a drop in valuation or slower growth—is more likely.

  • It shows that for companies to succeed, AI should focus on real human needs. This includes improving workflows and enhancing user experience, not just hype.

WhatsApp is testing cross-platform chats: Here’s everything we know so far

WhatsApp is testing a new beta feature in the European Union. Users can share messages, photos, videos, voice notes, and documents with their contacts using third-party messaging apps.

This feature is optional and can be turned off. Users will find a new menu under Settings → Account → “Third-party chats.”

Key Points:

  • Users can store messages from third-party apps either in a combined inbox with WhatsApp chats or in a separate folder.

  • Some WhatsApp-specific features won't work with third-party chats for now. This includes status updates, disappearing messages, and stickers.

  • Privacy and encryption are still important. WhatsApp assures users that third-party chats stay end-to-end encrypted. However, different apps might have different standards.

  • Voice and video calls will be fully rolled out across platforms later, likely in 2027. Feature availability may start in the EU.

Perplexity to pay Snap $400M to power search in Snapchat

Snap Inc. has announced a big partnership with Perplexity AI. Perplexity will pay Snap $400 million in cash and equity. This deal will integrate Perplexity's AI-powered search engine into Snapchat.

Key Points:

  • Users will be able to ask questions in the app and get answers from verified sources. These answers will appear in the My AI chatbot or chat interface.

  • The rollout is set for early 2026. Snap expects to start recording revenue from this deal in that year.

  • Snap has already reported strong Q3 2025 results, with revenue up 10% year-on-year to about $1.51 billion. This announcement has boosted its stock.
