Oracle-Broadcom one-two punch hits AI trade, but investor optimism persists

Oracle shares fell sharply after the company revealed plans to spend around $15 billion more on AI for fiscal 2026 than expected. This, along with mixed earnings results, raised investor concerns about high spending and slow returns.

In late 2025, many LinkedIn users noticed a sharp drop in post impressions and engagement. This was especially true for women with large followings. Some people in the viral #WearthePants experiment even switched their profile gender from female to male. They saw impressions jump dramatically, with one case showing an increase of about 238% in a day.

  • This led to frustration and questions about possible algorithm bias. Users noticed that visibility differences seemed linked to gender presentation.

  • LinkedIn said its algorithm doesn’t use demographics such as age, race, or gender for ranking. It claims that posts aren’t suppressed based on these traits. The company says its AI-based feed looks at hundreds of signals. These include user behaviour, profile details, network, and activity. This helps decide what shows up in each person's feed.

  • LinkedIn notes that posting and commenting have risen year-on-year. This means there’s more competition for attention than ever.
