Khaleda Zia: Slain leader's widow who went on to lead Bangladesh

Bangladesh is mourning the loss of former Prime Minister and opposition leader, Begum Khaleda Zia. Her passing has dominated the news. It has sparked large gatherings, official condolences, and widespread grief across the country.

Key Points:

  • Khaleda Zia’s body was taken to the National Parliament in Dhaka. There was tight security, and large crowds of mourners filled the streets.

  • Many people attended her funeral prayer (janaza). They came from all walks of life to pay their respects.

  • Reports say that government work and political campaigning may pause or change during the mourning period.

  • Her death ends a major chapter in Bangladesh’s politics. She was a key figure for decades. She served as prime minister and led the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) for many years.

But what can you actually DO about the proclaimed ‘AI bubble’? Billionaires know an alternative…

Sure, if you held your stocks since the dotcom bubble, you would’ve been up—eventually. But three years after the dot-com bust the S&P 500 was still far down from its peak. So, how else can you invest when almost every market is tied to stocks?

Lo and behold, billionaires have an alternative way to diversify: allocate to a physical asset class that outpaced the S&P by 15% from 1995 to 2025, with almost no correlation to equities. It’s part of a massive global market, long leveraged by the ultra-wealthy (Bezos, Gates, Rockefellers etc).

Musk's xAI buys third building to expand AI compute power

Elon Musk’s AI company, xAI, has bought a third building to expand its AI compute infrastructure. This plan aims to increase the company’s model-training capacity to around 2 gigawatts (GW) of computing power. This shows a big step up in AI training resources.

📍 Location & Setup

The new facility, named “MACROHARDRR” by Musk on platform X, will support xAI’s Colossus supercomputer cluster near Memphis, Tennessee. This cluster is already one of the world’s largest AI training systems.

The building will become a data centre in 2026. This will help support the larger compute infrastructure.

💡 Compute Scale & Strategy

With this acquisition, xAI plans to grow Colossus to host at least 1 million GPUs. This will boost training capacity to about 2 GW. That’s enough energy to power hundreds of thousands of homes.

xAI is expanding to compete with leading AI firms like OpenAI and Anthropic. Its goal is to build one of the largest AI compute installations in the world.

🌍 Energy & Environmental Context

The new facilities, which include Colossus 2, are near a natural gas power plant. xAI is developing this plant to meet its large energy needs. This raises concerns about energy use and sustainability in big AI training.
