How Microsoft is taking down AI hackers who create harmful images of celebrities and others

Microsoft found a global hacking network and is now taking legal action against it. This network used AI image tools to create abusive, non-consensual images. It targeted celebrities, women, and people of colour.
Called “Storm-2139,” the network allegedly involves six individuals. They created tools to access Microsoft’s Azure OpenAI Service and other AI platforms. Then, they sold ways to bypass safeguards.
Key Points :
The hackers used stolen credentials (API keys) from Azure customers. They used reverse-proxy services to hide their actions. They also created thousands of harmful prompts to generate bad content.
The victims included celebrities and private individuals. Their likenesses appeared in sexualized, hateful, or violent AI-generated images. Microsoft notes this abuse disproportionately affects women and girls.
Microsoft took action by revoking the stolen codes, seizing websites, and bringing the case to U.S. District Court. They added provenance metadata, called “Content Credentials,” to AI-generated images. This helps trace their origin.
NVIDIA and South Korea align on sovereign AI at APEC CEO Summit

At the APEC CEO Summit in Gyeongju, South Korea, NVIDIA announced a major partnership. This collaboration involves the South Korean government and top Korean companies. They aim to create sovereign AI infrastructure across the country.
The plan involves using over 260,000 NVIDIA GPUs. These will be used in sovereign clouds, industrial "AI factories," and in sectors like manufacturing, automotive, and telecom.
Key Points :
The government will begin with around 50,000 GPUs for a national AI computing centre. It will also use cloud services from providers like NAVER Cloud, NHN Cloud, and Kakao.
Corporate partnerships include:
Samsung Electronics is creating an "AI factory." It will use over 50,000 NVIDIA GPUs. This aims to improve manufacturing, semiconductors, and robotics.
SK Group will apply over 50,000 GPUs for industrial AI and cloud/robotics services.
Hyundai Motor Group is teaming up with NVIDIA to create AI systems for self-driving cars, smart factories, and robotics. This effort is supported by around 50,000 GPUs.
The Korean government aims to make South Korea a top-three global AI power. They plan to use the country’s manufacturing and technology base to excel in “intelligence export.”

OpenAI, Amazon Sign $38 Billion Cloud Deal

OpenAI has signed a multi-year cloud computing deal with Amazon worth $38 billion.
This partnership lets OpenAI use Amazon’s cloud services through Amazon Web Services (AWS) to train and run its latest AI models. It also provides access to many Nvidia chips.
Key Points :
The deal highlights Amazon's stronger push into the tough AI infrastructure market. Here, it competes with other big cloud players.
OpenAI will use this capacity soon. They aim for full deployment by the end of 2026, with possible expansion into 2027 and beyond.
This agreement happens as OpenAI expands its cloud partnerships beyond past exclusives.
