OpenAI is building its first smart speaker with Jony Ive, priced at $200 to $300, aiming to launch in early 2027.
OpenAI is working with Jony Ive on its first hardware product, a smart speaker with a built in camera and facial recognition.
The project started after OpenAI bought Ive’s startup Io Products for $6.5 billion in May.
The speaker’s camera may watch its surroundings and gently guide users toward actions.
OpenAI is also planning AI smart glasses, expected no earlier than 2028. A smart lamp has been built as a prototype.
This is a big step because OpenAI has never released a physical device before. The strong reputation of Jony Ive has created high expectations. At the same time, companies like Apple and Amazon are moving fast in AI devices, including Amazon’s Alexa+.
AI Alone Can’t Run Revenue
Finance doesn’t run on “mostly right.” It runs on math.
In The Architecture Behind AI-Native Revenue Automation, Tabs’s CTO breaks down why LLMs alone aren’t enough—and what it actually takes to build audit-ready, AI-driven contract-to-cash systems for modern B2B teams.
Google Home Adds Gemini Live Search to Tell You What Your Cameras See

“Live Search” uses Google’s Gemini AI to analyse your live camera feeds. It can answer natural-language questions about what it sees, like “Is there a car in the driveway?” or “Is someone at the back gate?” This happens in real time.
Key Points :
This feature is more advanced than standard motion notifications. It gives AI updates about your security cameras. It doesn’t just say “motion detected.”
Availability & Rollout
This feature comes with a larger Google Home update. It weaves Gemini into the smart home ecosystem. It redesigns the Google Home app and improves camera handling.
It will roll out globally in early 2026 as part of the updated Google Home experience. Some advanced AI features may be available gradually, based on region and device type.
Subscription Requirements
To use Live Search on your camera streams, you usually need the Advanced tier. This is part of the Google Home Premium subscription. This typically costs around ÂŁ8 or $20 per month, depending on your market.
Other AI features need this subscription too. These features have descriptive alerts. They offer a searchable history with simple phrases, like “find clips with a dog.” There are also daily summaries.
Context & Gemini Improvements
Live Search is part of Gemini’s broader expansion on smart home devices. It takes the place of the older Google Assistant on many devices. It also provides a more natural way to control AI conversations.
Gemini now offers smarter replies, easier routines, and a better grasp of what's going on in your home. This includes live observations, not just prerecorded footage.

Drax plans to turn coal-era infrastructure into data centre by 2027

Apple has launched a dual-die Fusion Architecture for the M5 Pro and M5 Max.
Instead of one large chip, the processor now has two separate dies. These dies connect with fast, low-latency links. This lets macOS recognise them as one chip.
Key Points :
CPU – More Power for Real-World Work
Both chips have an 18-core CPU:
6 “super cores” for fast single-threaded tasks
12 performance cores for multithreaded pro workloads
Apple says there’s up to 30% better performance in professional tasks than the M4 Pro/Max generation.
This generation gives around 2.5 times more multithreaded performance. This is for demanding tasks compared to the original M1 Pro/Max.
GPU & AI – Big Boost for Graphics and On-Device Intelligence
The M5 Pro supports up to 20 GPU cores.
The M5 Max scales up to 40 GPU cores.
Each GPU core now includes a Neural Accelerator, providing over 4Ă— more GPU AI compute than the M4 Pro/Max.
Ray tracing performance is up to ~30–35% faster than the M4 generation.
There’s a special 16-core Neural Engine for AI and machine learning tasks.
Unified Memory & Bandwidth – Critical for AI
A major improvement is in memory configuration:
The M5 Pro can support up to 64 GB unified memory with ~307 GB/s bandwidth.
The M5 Max scales up to 128 GB with ~614 GB/s bandwidth.
This big boost in memory bandwidth is vital. It helps with large language models, high-res video editing, and other AI tasks. These tasks need to handle a lot of data quickly.
