Exclusive: Nvidia aims to begin H200 chip shipments to China by mid-February, sources say

Nvidia told Chinese clients it will begin shipping its H200 AI chips to China by mid-February 2026. This timing is before the Lunar New Year holiday.

Initial shipments will use existing stock, with about 5,000 to 10,000 modules. This amounts to roughly 40,000 to 80,000 H200 chips.

The company also intends to boost production capacity for H200 chips. New orders are expected to open in Q2 2026, according to sources.

• Policy change allows China exports: This move follows a recent U.S. policy shift. It now enables Nvidia to sell H200 chips to approved Chinese clients for a 25% fee, reversing earlier restrictions on advanced chip sales.
