Amazon’s AI chatbot Rufus drove sales on Black Friday

Market data from Sensor Tower shows that Amazon's AI shopping assistant, Rufus, did a lot more than just answer questions on Black Friday. It also helped boost sales significantly.
🔍 What the numbers say
On Black Friday in the U.S., sessions with Rufus that led to a purchase jumped 100% compared to the last 30 days.
Sessions that resulted in a purchase without Rufus increased only 20% over the same period.
Shoppers using Rufus were much more likely to buy. This shows that the chatbot works as a high-intent sales assistant, not just a chat tool.
Rufus has been available to U.S. customers in the Amazon app since mid-2024. It trains on Amazon’s catalog, reviews, and Q&As. This helps users explore Amazon’s huge product selection.
ChatGPT launched three years ago today

Three years ago, on November 30, 2022, OpenAI launched a model called ChatGPT. It was designed for conversational interaction and was initially framed as an experiment. However, it quickly became a major platform shift.
Key Points :
ChatGPT began as a free research preview. In just weeks, it became one of the fastest-growing consumer apps. It reached millions of users and changed what people expect from software.
In three years, it has grown from a simple chat interface to a full app ecosystem and assistant platform. Now it includes plugins, document analysis, image generation, group chats, and enterprise features.
TechCrunch says what began as “just another model” is now vital for startups, big companies, and individuals. It supports writing, coding, research, customer support, and more.
New report examines how David Sacks might profit from Trump administration role

A new TechCrunch article, drawing from New York Times reporting, looks at David Sacks as Trump’s “AI and crypto czar.” It also examines how this role connects to his private investments. This could benefit him and his associates.
🔍 Key Points from the Report :
Sacks is now a senior official in the White House. He manages AI, crypto, and tech policy for President Donald Trump.
The NYT report, summarised by TechCrunch, says his venture portfolio and ties to founders could benefit from:
Shaping AI and crypto regulations that favour his backed companies.
Influencing procurement, standards, and export rules affecting his active sectors.
Critics say this raises conflict-of-interest questions. This is mainly because he has ties to VC, startup investing, and tech media, like the All-In podcast group.
Sacks has firmly rejected these claims. He called the coverage a “nothing burger.” He stressed that his policy goals are pro-growth, not self-serving.
